Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is announced for the Nintendo 3DS
Sonic Boom is a branch of the Sonic franchise that spans a cartoon, its own line of video games and merchandise, and a (soon to be cancelled) comic book.
Nintendo of Europe’s Twitter made a Boom-related announcement earlier today.

Thanks for the warning, Nintendo. Nintendo followed up by uploading Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice‘s announcement trailer, and here’s the press release and a few screenshots.
According to the press release, Sanzaru Games Inc., developer of Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, is returning for this installment. My experience with Shattered Crystal is limited to the demo, and it didn’t instill the desire to play the full game. I hear it’s better than the Wii U’s Rise of Lyric, at least. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fire & Ice next week at E3, so we’ll see if it’s an improvement soon enough. For what it’s worth, the Sonic the Hedgehog Tumblr insists it will be.
Amy has been promoted to a playable character, and all five of the anthropomorphic adventurers will harness the powers ice and fire to progress through the stages. To save the planet from disaster, the heroes must stop Dr. Eggman and D-Fekt.
“Bot Racing” is a new mode that’s dedicated to going fast. In it, you’ll be able to race your friends.
The Sonic Boom cartoon appears to be doing well. I’ve heard positive things about it.
Sonic Central, an app for iOS and Android, will launch this summer. Central will be SEGA’s tool to keeps fans in the loop on all Sonic news.
So, do you think this is that “Sonic Mach2″ we’ve heard about? Regardless, between Sonic Boom and both versions of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Sonic fans have something to look forward to.
Are you enjoying the Sonic Boom brand?
